‘HLS Workshop’

For Classes II to V

At TJIS, Kanpur

HLS (Human Learning System) India is an organization whose mission is promoting Human Resource Development through training, counselling and consultancy at all levels. This organization IS Headed By Mr. Amitabh Mohan who is the Principal Advisor of the school. A team of two members, Ms. Neha and Ms. Ranjini from HLS India conducted counseling sessions for Grades II to V in three slots on Tuesday, 23rd April, 2019.

The students of Grades II and III had a workshop on ‘Growing Up with Smile’. The session started with the explanation of Good Touch and Bad Touch by showing them a video. They were explained about the importance of taking care of our body.

Grade IV had a workshop on ‘Health and Hygiene’. They were given examples from their real life to stay healthy and hygienic. They were also shown a video in which a boy named David stayed healthy and hygienic. They were told about the four ways of keeping healthy and hygienic which were Daily Physical Activity, Healthy Eating, Adequate Sleep and Effective Hygiene practices with further stress upon the famous quote – ‘Early to bed, early to rise, makes a man, healthy, wealthy and wise.’

Grade V had an interactive workshop on ‘Study Skills’. They were told that students’ job is to study and their salary is their marks. They were told to pay attention in class, ask questions whenever one is confused and do written practice in every subject. They were told about the six processes of memory – sensory input, short term or working memory, rehearsal, feedback loop, long term memory and rehearsal. They were given tips to use mnemonic devices to improve memory. They were explained about the four techniques to improve memory skills which were sentence formation, acronym, visual image and link method of memory. Everyone increased their score from one memory skill to the other.

All the children enjoyed the workshop and it was an interactive session for one and all.
