Orientation Programme of the Little Champs (Saturday, 21st April, 2018)

In tandem with 'Openness and transparency', one of the core values of TJIS, the founding parents of class P.G. to V of the Little Champs of TJIS were invited for an Orientation Programme on Saturday, 21st April, 2018, to apprise them of the developments so far and also the future plans for the students.

The parents were invited to make their child's transition from home / preschool as easy as possible. The programme began with a welcome address followed by a brief presentation of the activities and achievements of the students. Then Headmistress of the Little Champs, Ms. Soumee Sarkar delivered the Orientation Programme address. She addressed the parents soliciting their constructive feedback and gave a detailed update on the progress. She also shared the processes that were scheduled for the year. She conveyed to them about the school policies, curriculum followed and the teaching methodology. She gave ways to help the children adjust in the school environment. She also discussed about nurturing the healthy eating habits among the children. The parents were given further practical information such as uniform requirements, information, bus travel, etc.  One of the objectives of the orientation program was to demonstrate how the curriculum involves self-directed, hands-on learning activities which not only give vent to the child’s creative talents and energies but also help in all-round holistic development of the child.

The parents interacted with the class teachers and subject teachers and shared their problems and queries related with their ward. One parent had volunteered for an interactive session with the audience where he appreciated about the school policies, academics and teachers.

Then, an activity of palm impression was organized for the parents as well as the children. The child and the parent’s had put their palm impression on a welcome chart believing that the prints or impressions of a child’s palm can be kept as a memento by the teachers as well as parents. This activity had catered to the fun element in the proceedings.

The programme ended on a high note with parents being extremely happy with the arrangements in the school. The orientation helped outline and reaffirm the teachers’ and parents’ role as partners in the progress of their child. It was concluded that parents play a vital role in the educational system and they need to fully co-operate with the school, honour its rules and procedures so that the teachers can work together with them for the full flowering and optimum development of their wards.
