Universal Health Coverage: Everyone, Everywhere

7th April, 2018, World Health Day observed as

First Aid Day

At TJIS, Kanpur

Saturday, 7th April, 2018

The World Health Organization (WHO) celebrates its 70th anniversary on Saturday,7th April, 2018 with the slogan "Universal Health Coverage: Everyone, Everywhere", working for better health for everyone, everywhere  This year, World Health Day is dedicated to one of WHO’s founding principles: “The enjoyment of the highest attainable standard of health is one of the fundamental rights of every human being without distinction of race, religion, political belief, economic or social condition.”

To create Awareness amongst the students for their health and wellbeing a First Aid Workshop was organised on World Health Day, i.e. 7th April, 2018 at The Jain International School. The Guest Speaker was  Dr Tushar Nigam who is the First Aid Incharge (WHO) at Amar Maritime Training Academy, Arya Nagar, Kanpur and also a  Visiting Doctor at Cardiology, Kanpur. Sir was given a hearty welcome and felicitated by Respected Principal Mr. M. K. Panda and Headmistress Mrs Soumee Sarkar.

First aid is the assistance given to any person suffering a sudden illness or injury, with care provided to preserve life, prevent the condition from worsening, or to promote recovery. It includes initial intervention in a serious condition prior to professional medical help being available, such as performing CPR while awaiting an ambulance, as well as the complete treatment of minor conditions, such as applying a plaster to a cut. First aid is generally performed by the layperson, with many people trained in providing basic levels of first aid, and others willing to do so from acquired knowledge. The person who gives First Aid is known as the ‘First Responder’.

Dr Tushar Nigam addressed the students and told them that unpleasant though it may be, the fact remains that accidents happen. ... This is why it's important to have at least a basic knowledge of first aid. At its most basic, it is the initial assistance given to a victim of injury or illness.First Aid knowledge is invaluable for both you as the individual and for your community. It enables you to assist persons who become injured in the event of an accident or emergency situation until help arrives. Sir gave live demos to the students to make them understand well and also told them that while giving first aid we must think of our safety too.

Respected Headmistress Ma’am extended her gratitude to Dr. Tushar Nigam for his kind presence.

The workshop was very informative and interactive. The Doctor solved the queries of all the students. The reins of the workshop were very deftly held by Sanskriti Purwar who concluded with the thought

‘Always remember every life is precious, so save it’
