With wealth of knowledge and wisdom,

The Hindu Lunar Month of Magh in India is Spring and BasantPanchami is a celebration of the freshness and beauty of Spring Season. Spring is the time of renewal of life, of new relationships, hope and renewed chances for improvement and success. The spiritual aspect of BasantPanchami is also very important - It is the Saraswati Puja.  GoddessSaraswati– the ‘Goddess of Learning’is the Cosmic Intelligence and Divine Storehouse and Expression of Knowledge. The festival and puja are celebrated on the fifth day of lunar fortnight.

To mark the auspicious day, The Jain International School celebrated BasantPanchamion Monday, 22nd January, 2018, invoking the blessings of Goddess Saraswati for seeking knowledge and a prosperous life. The celebrations commenced with lighting of the holy lamp in front of the idol of Goddess Saraswati by Respected Principal Mr M.K. Panda and Honourable Headmistress Mrs SoumeeSarkar.

This was followed bymelodious Bhajanssung by the students and staff with utmost devotion. The auspicious morning concluded with religious Aarti and distribution of Prasad to all present.

We worship Goddess Saraswati to get enlightened with knowledge and to get rid of lethargy, sluggishness and ignorance. We need the Grace of Goddess Saraswati every minute of our lives. We cannot function without knowledge and wisdom. When we respect and revere knowledge, we receive the blessings of Goddess Saraswati and are able to make the right use of the knowledge.

Yellow is considered to be the prominent colour of this holy ritual and festival and is related to the bloom of mustard flowers during this period. It signifies cheerfulness, wisdom, auspiciousness and intellectuality and is a symbol of spring.

‘MAY GODDESS SARASWATI SHOWER HER CHOICEST BLESSINGS ON ALL OF US’
