‘Yoga is a mirror to look at ourselves from within’
A few minutes of yoga during the day can be a great way to get rid of stress that accumulates daily in both body and the mind.
June 21 is marked as the annual International Day for Yoga to celebrate the ancient Indian art of healthy living. Honourable Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi proposed that June 21 be picked for celebrating ‘International Yoga Day’ as it marks the Summer Solstice in the Northern Hemisphere – the longest day of the year and considered auspicious in many cultures.
On 21st June, 2021, 7th International Yoga Day was celebrated online at TJIS, Kanpur at 7:30 a.m. All the students of Grade P.G. to Xll, along with the teachers participated in the event. Our mentor cum faculty Mr.Vikas Yadav gave his valuable guidance to all present. It was really a treat to the eyes to watch our tiny tots doing Yoga practices.
The theme of the International Yoga Day event this year is 'Yoga for Wellness', a motto aligned to the current pre-occupations. Due to social distancing measures adopted by most countries, the theme set by United Nations for this year is "Yoga for Health - Yoga at Home".
The session began in the presence of our Honourable Principal, Mr. M.K. Panda, Mrs. Deepa Singh, Headmistress Senior School and Mrs. Rekha Singh Headmistress, Little Champs, by seeking the blessings of Almighty by chanting the Gayatri Mantra unanimously. Asanas started with warming up and stretching. These were followed by a series of other asanas like Padmasana, Sukhasana, Tadaasna, Bhujangasana, Naukaasan, etc.
The morning concluded with the address by Principal Sir. Sir urged everyone to practice yoga on regular basis as it is the key to wellness and heartfullness.
Overall, the session was very refreshing, reviving and relaxing. The International Yoga Day was observed with a lot of eagerness and joy.
‘MAY THE POWER OF YOGA BRING OUT THE BEST IN YOU’
