Basant Panchami Celebration
At TJIS, Kanpur
On Thursday, 30th January, 2020
‘Frosty winds going away, spring on its way,
Yellow in its brightest hue, brings knowledge to you.’
Spring unlocks the flowers to paint the laughing soil. Let our lives shine and dazzle with the pulsating hues of Basant, May Goddess Saraswati sanctify us all with affluence of knowledge and wisdom.
Spring is the time of renewal of life, of new relationships, hope and renewed chances for improvement and success. Basant Panchami is a celebration of the freshness and beauty of Spring Season. The spiritual aspect of Basant Panchami is also very important - It is the Saraswati Puja. Goddess Saraswati– the ‘Goddess of Learning’ is the Cosmic Intelligence and Divine Storehouse and Expression of Knowledge. We worship Goddess Saraswati to get enlightened with knowledge and to get rid of lethargy, sluggishness and ignorance. We need the Grace Maa Saraswati every minute of our lives. We cannot function without knowledge and wisdom. When we respect and revere knowledge, we receive the blessings of Goddess Saraswati and are able to make the right use of the knowledge. The festival and Puja are celebrated on the fifth day of lunar fortnight.
To mark the auspicious day, The Jain International School celebrated Basant Panchami on Thursday, 30th January, 2020, invoking the blessings of Goddess Saraswati for seeking knowledge and a prosperous life. The celebrations commenced with lighting of the holy lamp in front of Goddess Saraswati by Respected Principal, Mr M.K. Panda, Mrs Anoo Panda and Mrs Rekha singh, Little Champs Headmistress.
This was followed by melodious hymns sung by the students and staff with utmost devotion. The auspicious morning concluded with the auspicious Aarti and distribution of Prasad to all present. The students and teachers, all clad in yellow, enjoyed the auspicious occasion. Yellow is considered to be the prominent colour of this holy ritual and festival and is related to the bloom of mustard flowers during this period. It signifies cheerfulness, wisdom, auspiciousness and intellectuality and is a symbol of spring.
‘MAY GODDESS SARASWATI SHOWER HER CHOICEST BLESSINGS ON ALL OF US’
