Pottery Clay Activity

The announce the commencement of the Festival of Lights that is round the corner. The Jain International School organized Pottery Clay Activity on Friday, 18th October, 2019 in the school premises for the school children. A potter was invited for the same and he demonstrated how clay objects are designed by giving a hands-on experience to the children on his spinning wheel. The students enjoyed working on the wheel of the potter. Even our tiny tots worked with clay on the wheel.

Pottery Activity helps in developing hands-eye co-ordination and gives wings to the imagination of the young artists. The students understood how by making use of earthen clay they can design marvelous pieces of art. Pottery, as ‘the art or activity of creating objects from clay’ mesmerized the students when they started from a mound of moist clay spinning on a wheel and transformed it into different forms and shapes using their tactile skills.They understood the basic design elements and procedures in pottery making.

The students were told why burning of earthen Diyas is important on Diwali for the environment. Principal Sir urged the students to decorate their houses with traditional earthen pots and diyas instead of decorating with electric lights. 

This was really a unique and entertaining experience for our youngsters.The students enjoyed working on the wheel of the potter. Even our tiny tots worked with clay on the wheel.
