‘MARKET VALUE DAY’
On Thursday, 11th July, 2019
A VISIT TO THE SUPERMARKET
ByThe Little Champs, TJIS
Grades: Pre-Primary to II
With an objective to create and educate children about the importance and consumption of fruits and vegetables in regular diet the students of class Pre School were made to a departmental store on Thursday, 11 July, 2019. The visit was educative as children explored the different sections of the store. The huge display of fresh fruits and vegetables, flavoursome bakery items, the canned food, milk products etc. was a feast for the eyes. The students were made aware of the healthy and unhealthy food under the guidance of their teachers. They also observed the billing process and customer- service of the store.
This exercise not only gave an insight into the functioning of the store but also built up the confidence of the children to shop independently.
The day was spent with great zest, enthusiasm and vigour, enjoying the moments of joy and happiness on this special day. Children would have gone to the supermarket countless times, but this trip was different. The children were taken to the supermarket to enrich their learning experience. Children embraced this task enthusiastically as they learnt more about different sections of the supermarket. They identified each one of them confidently. The children were even told that market places are crowded so they should not move away from their family members.
The children were given a Frooti each by the Supermarket authorities showing their amiable gesture. On the whole it was a fun learning experience for each child. The enthusiasm shown by the children showcased that a simple task of going to the supermarket can be fun and exciting, and there is always scope for better learning for these young children.
