Love and kindness is never wasted;
It makes differences in the lives of both who give and those who receive.
A VISIT TO SWARAJ VRIDHASHRAM - AN OLD AGE HOME
On the Occasion of International Day for Elderly People

On 1st October, 2018
1st October is celebrated as the ‘International Day for Elderly People’ each year which was first established on 14th of December in the year 1990 by the United Nations General Assembly.
The students of The Jain International School added a new dimension to their festivities by paying a visit to ‘The Swaraj Vridhashram’ which is an Old Age Home on Monday, 1st October, 2018 and bringing smiles to the faces of neglected and discarded elders.
A group of 35 students along with the faculty members visited the ‘Swaraj Vridhashram’. There they presented a short cultural programme to entertain the Grand Ma’s and Grand Pa’s whose happy and excited faces can’t be described in words. A generous voluntary contribution was made by the students which comprised of toiletries, music system, pedestral fan, etc. This collection was handed over to the inmates of the Old Age Home.
This was a small effort on the part of our young team to bring smiles to the faces of those from whom smiles are miles away. The greatest reward for someone involved in Service above Self is the spark on the faces of those whom he or she has helped and this adds to the treasure of bliss.
We can continue to accomplish all we can for the greater good of helping those in need. After all, one way to make a true impact on others is to live out the term, service above self. Giving yourself to the service of others is life’s fulfillment.
‘In a world where you can be anything – BE KIND.’
Cherish all your happy moments; they make a fine cushion for old age.
Let us never know what old age is. Let us know the happiness time brings, not count the years.
