Language and Communication Skills Session
For Teachers
At TJIS, Kanpur
On Monday, 14th May, 2018
Teaching is all about communication - listening, speaking, reading, presenting and writing. Teachers who hone their communication skills are prepared to instruct, advice and mentor students entrusted in their care. Communication is both receptive and expressive. Teachers must be skilled at listening to their students as well as explaining things clearly. They need clarity of thought to present the material and must be able to break down complex ideas into simpler parts and smaller steps to transmit to their students. They must be able to adapt their methods of communication to all students regardless of ability or learning style. Effective communication includes transforming the boring into the interesting and having good presentation skills.
Keeping in view the importance of Language and Communication Skills a Counselling Session was conducted for the teachers at The Jain International School By Dr Nita Jain, Retd. Principal, Christ Church Degree College, Kanpur with 41 years of teaching experience and A Communication Specialist since January, 2018. Ma’am is associated with Srinathji Group of Institutions (SGI) as one of the prestigious Advisory Board Members.
Dr Nita Jain was warmly welcomed and felicitated by Respected Principal Mr. M.K. Panda and Headmistress Mrs. Soumee Sarkar.
Ma’am addressed the teachers and laid emphasis that Grammar should be as simple as possible, for everyone to understand. Teaching must be done in English only and not in mother tongue. Teachers must do their learning and unlearning and upgrade themselves according to the need of the day. Ma’am made the topics clear through PPT and Story Narration using pauses, pitch and tone wherever necessary. All the Language teachers must be familiar to the phonetic symbols and articulate in the same manner.
The session concluded with the note that a teacher must be ‘The Symbol of Perfection’ for which a bit of hard work is required so that the right message is conveyed to the students in a right manner.
