A COUNSELLING WORKSHOP FOR FASHION STUDIES
At TJIS, KANPUR
On Wednesday, May 09, 2018
Fashion is a constant presence in a person’s life. It is a daily task of choosing what clothing to put on your body for the day, and it is not only used to protect modesty but it is used for self expression. Although, fashion can be tricky – there are so many supposed “rules” as to how to dress for different occasions, and what is considered in style and not in style. With this in mind, it’s hard to know the do’s and don’ts of fashion or if there are really don’ts in fashion.
On Wednesday, 9th May, 2018 a Counselling Workshop was conducted at The Jain International School for the students of classes 11th and 12th who want to opt Fashion Studies as a career. Ms Surabhi Tandon, a Graduate from NIFT and Director of Starmind Education took the counseling session and interacted with the students. She told them that they should choose their passion as their career which should depend on their interest, aptitude and knowledge.
The Fashion Stream consists of a lot of career options like Fashion, Textile, Graphic, Interior, Accessories, Animation, Photography, etc. Without any peer pressure the Entrance Exams can be easily cleared which consists of Level 1 – General and Creative Ability (GAT) and Level 2 --- Situation Test. Ma’am further told the students about some renowned Institutes of Fashion Designing like Pearl Academy, NIFT – 1988, NID – 1961. She told them about Mr Rahul Mishra, the First Indian Alumni to reach The Paris Fashion Week.
The workshop concluded with “A Test Yourself Task’ and with the message –‘Make Your Passion Your Profession’
