Aristotle very rightly said ‘Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all’. The purpose of education is to replace an empty mind with an open one and this is possible when a student gets an opportunity to walk around with his or her fellow friends and explore the world. Travelling plays an important role in our education. The terms ‘Travelling’ and ‘Education’ cannot be alienated from each other. Education remains incomplete without travelling.
Keeping in view the need of the day The Jain International School planned a trip to the city of Lucknow on 3rd December, 2017. Lucknow continues to be an important centre of governance, administration, education, commerce, aerospace, finance, pharmaceuticals, technology, design, culture, tourism, music and poetry. 222 students accompanied by 15 staff members spent the whole day in the majestic city of Nawabs and surveyed its glory by visiting Chota Imambara, British Residency and Ganga Aquarium.
The Residency, also called as the British Residency, located in the heart of the city was constructed during the rule of Nawab Saadat Ali Khan II, who was the fifth Nawab of the province of Awadh. The Residency served as the residence for the British Resident General who was a representative in the court of the Nawab.
Chota Imambara, for its profuse decoration was referred by European visitors and writers as ‘The Palace of Lights’. The exterior is very beautifully decorated with Quranic verses in Islamic calligraphy. Ganga Aquarium is the newest attraction in Lucknow and said to be one of the best aquariums in India.
The students visited these places and investigated about their history with great zeal and excitement. To conclude; Plan your trip, pack your bags and get ready to explore the essence of the world because ‘Experience and travel are education in themselves’
