BASANT PANCHAMI CELEBRATIONS
BASANT PANCHAMI CELEBRATIONS
1st February, 2017
To mark the auspicious day, TJIS celebrated Basant Panchami with the the Gurukul students and teachers by doing Saraswati Pooja. Goddess Saraswati is known as the Goddess of Knowledge.
Goddess Saraswati’s favourite colour white assumes special significance on this day. Statue of Goddess Saraswati was dressed in white clothes and was worshiped by devotees adorning white and yellow garments. All the boys of the Gurukul were attired in white kurta-pajamas and all the girls along with teachers were dressed in yellow coloured traditional dresses. Yellow signifies cheerfulness, wisdom, auspiciousness and intellectuality and is a symbol of spring.
The celebrations commenced with the Saraswati Vandana, invoking the blessings of Goddess Saraswati for seeking knowledge and a prosperous life. It was followed with Bhajans which were sung by the staff and students with utmost devotion. Respected Mrs Chandrani Banerjee and Mr. M.K. Panda, respective Little Champs and Senior School Principals along with the Staff and students performed the Arti. Goddess Saraswati was offered sweets which were given away as ‘Prasad’ to all attending the ritual worship. We worship Goddess Saraswati to get enlightened with knowledge and to get rid of lethargy, sluggishness and ignorance.
‘MAY GODDESS SARASWATI SHOWER HER CHOICEST BLESSINGS ON ALL OF US’
