The idea of celebrating Teachers' Day took root in many countries during the 20th century. In most countries they celebrate a local educator or an important milestone in education. India has celebrated the birthday, 5th September, of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, the Second President of India-all over India as Teacher’s Day, since 1962–a day to offer tribute to the teachers who burn themselves to give light to their students. Teachers' Day is intended to be one of the special days to honour the contributions of the teachers to our study, society and country.
At The Jain International School Teacher’s Day celebrations started from Saturday when the students decorated their classrooms and made cards to welcome their teachers. They did not leave even a single stone unturned to please them.
The morning of 5th September dawned with many surprises for the teachers. After the special Morning Assembly the students of Class 12th took over the charge of the teachers and taught in the classes for the first two periods. This was their way of thanking their teachers for guiding, supporting, inspiring and teaching them.
Thereafter the students of Class 12 presented a mesmerizing Entertaining Programme for their teachers. The programme started by cutting of the cake by the Senior and Junior School Principals, Mr M. K. Panda and Mrs Chandrani Banerjee respectively.
The musical morning consisted of heart throbbing dances and songs by the students. All the teachers were bestowed with titles suiting their personalities. This was followed by fun games for the teachers in which they participated whole-heartedly.
The presence of the Managing Trustee, Respected Kapil Agarwal added a cherry to the cake. Sir appreciated the students for presenting a wonderful programme and expressed his gratitude to all the teachers. Sir further invoked the students to make every day a Teachers Day by working hard and loving and respecting their teachers.
The event concluded by the heartfelt felicitations of the teachers by the Respected Senior and Junior School Principals. They expressed that the teachers are the backbone of the society and deserve due love and respect not only for one day in a year but throughout the year.
Overall, the love and respect shown by the students through this lively and entertaining programme will be cherished by the teachers throughout the year.
