EARTH DAY
A DAY WITH A DIFFERENCE

Earth Day is a day that is intended to inspire awareness and appreciation for the Earth's natural environment is an annual event, celebrated on April 22, on which events are held worldwide to demonstrate support for environmental protection. It was first celebrated in 1970, and is now coordinated globally and celebrated in more than 192 countries each year.
On 22 April 2014, a celebration of being a part of this beautiful planet the Earth was undertaken at The Jain International School with great enthusiasm. The day began with a special morning assembly on the theme of Earth day. Thereby all students from class I to XII engaged in various eco-friendly activities. Inter-house competitions were conducted and all students were encouraged to participate in the celebrations.The activities were designed in an attempt to elevate the significance of environmental issues around the world and to make the students aware about the earth’s natural preserves.
At Little Champs for Group A i.e. for Classes I to V Inter-class Collage-making Competition was held on the topic ‘Nature’.
Under Group B the students from classes 6 to 8 indulged in Inter-class Poster-designing on the following topics:
Class 6 Save Ganga
Class 7 Pollution
Class 8 Green City Clean City
Group C comprising of classes 9 to 12 presented their views on how to save motherplanet through Inter-house Hindi Debate Competition on the topic ”Prakritik Aapdayen- Manav ki den”
The students put forward their views both for and against the motion.The winners for the event were:
1st Yash Jaiswal
2nd Siddhatri Awasthi
3rd Saloni Shukla
At the end of the day, the entire school presented a picture of creative hands at work towards protecting nature and saving Mother Earth with posters, banners and collage presentations displayed around the school.
The principal Mrs Ira Bhat appreciated the efforts and enthusiasm of the students in presenting their views on the safety measures of Earth and a critical need to conserve the environment.
It was truly a wonderful experience to be a part of the celebration of life and it is for sure that this spirit of unity with our planet earth will continue to find a corresponding throb in the heartbeats of all.

The celebrations gave the students an outstanding opportunity to focus on issues of environmental concern and to stimulate their creativity and imagination so that they can act persuasively to help solve the environmental problems. It is hoped, that these activities will continue to inspire children to celebrate Earth-Every Day and in Every Way. |
