Worshiping the Goddess of Knowledge.
Tuesday 4th February 2014
Since the chilling air of winter has changed into soothing cold breeze, here comes the Spring season known as Basant or Vasant when the earth is adorned with rainbow colours. The 5th day of Hindu month Maagh, considered as the first day of Spring is known as Basant Panchami.
The Jain International School celebrated Basant Panchmi on Tuesday 4th February 2014 in a serene and pious manner. The programme started off with Saraswati Poojan by the Principal, staff and students invoking Maa Saraswati to bless all with knowledge, wisdom and truth. This was followed by a soulful rendering of Bhajans.
The Principal Mrs Ira Bhat congratulated everybody on this auspicious occasion. She said that we need Maa Saraswati’s grace every minute of our lives because we cannot function without knowledge and wisdom. When we respect and revere knowledge we attain enlightenment and get rid of lethargy, sluggishness and ignorance.
The importance of Basant Panchami was explained by Mrs Parul Awasthi and Ms Sadhana Shanker. This day is also celebrated as the birthday of Maa Saraswati.
MAY GODDESS SARASWATI BLESS US ALL WITH KNOWLEDGE AND WISDOM
