An Educational Excursion to Nana Rao Park and Museum @Bithoor, Kanpur on 16th November, 2024
On November 16, 2024, students of Grades 5, 6, 7, and 8 from TJIS, Kanpur, embarked on an educational excursion to Nana Rao Park and Museum in Bithoor, Kanpur, a place deeply rooted in India's independence struggle and the valor of its freedom fighters.
The excursion aimed to immerse students in Kanpur's historical significance, particularly its vital role in India's first war of independence in 1857. As students toured the museum, they observed weapons, literature, and portraits of heroic figures such as Tatya Tope, Nana Sahib, Rani Lakshmi Bai, and others whose bravery marked a turning point in the fight against British colonial rule. The museum's collection includes historic weapons used during the 1857 uprising, manuscripts, and rare documents, all preserved to inspire future generations.
The students were particularly fascinated by relics like Tatya Tope’s dagger and royal decrees from the Mughal period, witnessing history up close. They also viewed original copies of Pratap, an important Kanpur newspaper that played a crucial role in India’s freedom movement, and letters dating back to the freedom struggle era.
Established in 2005, the museum continues to develop and enrich its displays, providing valuable insights into the sacrifices made by our freedom fighters. This educational visit not only enhanced the students' historical knowledge but also instilled a deep sense of pride and respect for the country’s heritage.
