Visit to Indian Culinary Institute, Noida

The Principal of TJIS, Kanpur got an opportunity to visit the Indian Culinary Institute (ICI) in Noida was organized as part of a Principal's exposure initiative conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). The primary objective was to explore the diverse career options available in the culinary field, with a focus on educating and inspiring students to consider culinary arts as a viable and rewarding career path.
Principals from various schools participated in this initiative, gaining valuable insights into the culinary arts and the career opportunities.
The visit began with an introductory session where she was welcomed by the institute's faculty and staff.
This was followed by a comprehensive tour of the campus, which included visit to the various specialized kitchens and labs.
She was introduced to the different types of kitchen instruments and equipment used in professional cooking. The faculty provided detailed explanations of how these tools are integral to the culinary profession, highlighting the importance of both traditional and modern cooking techniques.
Upon returning from this visit, all the information and insights gained were shared with both students and faculty. As a result, students in classes VI to VIII have been given the option to take culinary arts as a skill subject. The experience and knowledge were also shared with the school management, leading to a decision to invite faculty from ICI to provide our students with a similar immersive experience, further enhancing their understanding of the culinary arts.
The visit to the Indian Culinary Institute in Noida was a thoroughly enriching experience. The institute’s commitment to excellence in culinary education was evident in its facilities, and the curriculum it offers. The exposure to different types of kitchen instruments, career options, and hands-on baking was both informative and inspiring.
